Nebraska vs Michigan State: Odds, prediction, and how to watch

Nebraska football is aiming to become bowl-eligible on Saturday against Michigan State. Here’s the odds, how to watch, and a prediction.

The goal most Nebraska football fans had for this season was for the Huskers to reach a bowl game. Well, if the Huskers win Saturday at Michigan State, they will be bowl-eligible.

After an 0-2 start, Nebraska football has won five of six games. The Huskers have won three in a row in the Big Ten and posted their first undefeated October since 2001.

Nebraska is actually tied for first in the Big Ten West. Minnesota owns the tiebreaker over the Huskers, while the team has games looming against Wisconsin and Iowa to close the season.

However, two Big Ten East crossover games await first. That starts with a trip to East Lansing, the destination of one of the most painful losses of the Scott Frost era in 2021.

This time around, it could be a triumphant night for Nebraska football, and here’s our first look at the Spartans with a look at the odds, how to watch, and our early prediction.

Nebraska football vs. Michigan State odds

According to DraftKings, the Huskers are a three-point favorite right now against Michigan State. The over/under is 34.5 and the money line is -110 for Nebraska and MSU.

Nebraska vs. Michigan State prediction

The big question for Michigan State is who will start at quarterback? Katin Houser has started the last three games — all losses. MSU was leading at Rutgers by 17 points a few weeks ago before falling apart in the fourth quarter.

Sam Leavitt completed 8-of-12 passes and threw a touchdown in the loss against Minnesota last week. So he could start, but either way, Michigan State hasn’t beaten a Power-5 team yet this season and they are one of just two winless teams in the conference.

Nebraksa will have to play well to win and the Huskers can’t fumble five times. The run defense of Michigan State has been solid, yet the pass defense hasn’t. Sort of like Purdue that creates a decent matchup for the Michigan State offense.

But a good defense usually travels. The running game will be good enough and the Blackshirts, as well as the special teams, will carry Nebraska to bowl eligibility.

Score: Nebraska 16, Michigan State 10.

Record: 8-0 overall, 4-4 ATS.
