Huskers defensive coordinator talks about the Michigan game not being acceptable and moving on from it.
Those involved say they’ve never had a day-after-game practice like the one the Huskers had Sunday. Full pads, full go.
«I’ve never seen that before where Coach just sprung that on them on a Sunday and they had probably one of their better practices ever in pads,» said defensive coordinator Tony White. «They have responded up to this point but it’s still a process, right? The telltale will be when the clock reads zero Friday night.»
ABOUT GETTING THE PASS RUSH GOING
Nebraska had 14 sacks the first three games but none the last two.
Asked about the pass rush, White said, «That comes back on me and being aggressive. If you look at games prior we were really aggressive up there. … This game we had some chances to, we just didn’t hold up. We had chances to hit him or the coverage broke down. Or the coverage was great and we just didn’t get off blocks. That’s just me. Me. Me and the playcalling, being aggressive and letting the guys loose.»
And the preparation during the week, he added. Making sure guys know what to do and their mindsets are correct.

White said the most disappointing thing as a coach after a game like Michigan is asking what you did wrong to not have guys cutting it loose
Because he said guys will do everything they’re asked.
«They’re going to go and do it. So now, one, we’ve got to do our part and make sure they know what the hell to do, so they can go do it. And then demand of them to make sure they understand. I’ve said this before and this is from Coach: ‘There is a way you’re going to play football at Nebraska. OK? That was not good enough on Saturday. Period. So we’ve got to get it fixed.»
