Checking in on some former Nebraska players making plays on this Sunday.
Cam Taylor-Britt did it again, Randy Gregory got a sack with his new squad and Khalil Davis – yeah, he’s got a nice story brewing down in Houston if you didn’t know.
Let’s start with Davis, who was earning kudos from some Texans fans on social media on Sunday during the team’s 20-13 win over New Orleans. While he was only credited with one tackle, he continues to make noise a week after posting four tackles and forcing a fumble in just 27 snaps.
It’s a story worth highlighting when you consider the former Husker defensive lineman was in the USFL earlier this year. Houston brought him in this summer and called him up from the practice squad to the 53-man roster on Sept. 23.

«You have to trust the process and trust yourself,» Davis told Texans Daily recently. «The biggest thing is confidence in yourself. If you don’t have confidence in yourself, how are you going to be able to show that? I just believe I could do it.»
Davis is now working on the same D-line as former Husker Maliek Collins, who was credited for a half a sack in the win over the Saints. (Here’s a highlight from Davis from last week that gives you an idea of how he is charging right now).
Meanwhile, Davis’ former teammate Cam Taylor-Britt was at it again.
After having a pick six last week, he had another interception in Cincinnati’s 17-13 win over Seattle.
On his B-day too.
Former Husker Randy Gregory’s new San Francisco team wasn’t as fortunate score-wise, losing 19-17 to Cleveland.
But Gregory, recently having just moved over from Denver, recorded his first sack for the 49ers along the way for a team that is regarded as one of the favorites in the NFC.
The team the 49ers lost to had P.J. Walker working the QB spot.
Don’t be surprised if Matt Rhule is a proud papa at Monday’s press conference if Walker’s name comes up. Walker was a QB for Rhule at Temple. Walker battled his way back to the NFL, with time spent in the XFL, to a place where he was starting for the Browns.
Nice day of rewards for perseverance for at least a couple players in some way linked to Nebraska football.
