Northwestern quarterback Ben Bryant won’t play against Nebraska football, plus final odds for the Huskers and Wildcats.
One of the biggest questions going into the Nebraska football game against Northwestern on Saturday was the status of starting quarterback Ben Bryant.
Bryant threw for 397 yards in the Wildcats’ come-from-behind win over Minnesota but suffered an injury against Penn State and missed the previous game for Northwestern against Howard.
There was some thought that he could return this week. However, Pete Thamel of ESPN has reported that Bryant will miss the game, meaning Brandon Sullivan will get the start against Nebraska football on Saturday.
Sullivan isn’t the preferred starter for Northwestern. Yet, he’s started five games in his career and has seven touchdown passes compared to four interceptions. Sullivan is completing 67.6 percent of his passes this season to go along with three touchdowns and one interception. He also led Northwestern to a 23-20 win over Howard in their last game.

What’s interesting is that the odds have been dropping this week. Nebraska football opened as a 12-point favorite but things are down to a 10.5 now. I’m not sure why and you’d think having the backup quarterback starting the game would move the line up for the favorite instead of down.
At any rate, DraftKings has Nebraska as a 10.5-point favorite. The over/under is set for 40. The bets are coming in 50/50 right now. The money line is -425 for Nebraska and +330 for Northwestern.
The weather should be just about perfect for kickoff.
