Oddsmakers weighed in on the Huskers’ matchup with Maryland on Saturday.
Nebraska returns home to face Maryland on Saturday and will do so as a slight underdog according to oddsmakers on Sunday.
Oddsmakers weighed in Sunday afternoon and have the Huskers as a one-point underdog according to Circa Sports. The point total for Sunday’s game opened at 47.5 points.
Nebraska owns a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series with Maryland. The teams most recently met in 2019, winning 54-7 in College Park, Maryland. Maryland visited Nebraska in 2016 — a 28-7 Husker win.
Both teams will be working to get back in the win column and qualify for a bowl game. Nebraska fell 20-17 to Michigan State on Saturday in East Lansing, a loss which snapped the Huskers’ three-game winning streak.
“As I said to our guys, we’re a good football team. We’re finding out what it’s like to play games with consequences late in the year. When you come in after winning a couple games they’re finding out for the first time that people are like ready for you,” Rhule said after Saturday’s loss to Michigan State. “They didn’t not pay attention to you all week.
They studied you all week. And you’re gonna have to fight, scratch and claw and not just assume, oh, we stopped them for two drives, we’re gonna get them going now. Or, hey, we ran the ball. For the first drive coming out of halftime we had 30 rushing yards in the drive and then we sputtered. So there’s a lot more lessons to learn from this game. It’s painful, but they have to learn.”
Maryland was smacked at home by Penn State 51-15, which was the team’s fourth straight loss. Maryland began its season 5-0, but has since dropped games to Ohio State, Illinois, Northwestern and Penn State.
In the loss to Penn State, Maryland turned the ball over four times and was sacked six times.
Saturday’s game between Nebraska and Maryland will kick at 11 a.m. CT and will be broadcast on Peacock, NBC’s streaming service.
