A transfer portal defensive lineman has announced a scholarship offer from the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Javier Derritt is a defensive lineman who has spent the last five seasons at North Dakota State.
In 2023, Derritt recorded 31 tackles with 2.5 sacks for the Bison. He has already proven to be a popular name in the transfer portal as he already has received numerous offers, including USC and Michigan State.
The prospect entered the transfer portal on December 27. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Nebraska has been relatively quiet in the transfer portal after a loud first week of December showcased the Huskers flying around the country looking for quarterback help.
This time, however, Nebraska is looking to take a swing on an intriguing defensive tackle from North Dakota State in Javier Derritt, who is looking to make a name for himself at the FBS level.
The 6-foot-2, 280-pound Derritt played in all 15 games for the Bison this season, recording 31 total tackles with 3.5 tackles for a loss (2.5 sacks). Derritt has 56 game appearances over his five-year career with 90 total tackles, 16 tackles for a loss with 11 sacks.
He posted a career-high seven tackles for a loss in 2022.
Derritt has already been offered by USC, as the Trojans hired North Dakota State’s head coach, Matt Entz, earlier this offseason. Entz will coach linebackers for the Trojans.
Nebraska hasn’t been particularly active looking for defensive line help this year after a nice haul in 2023 and a strong season. The Huskers did, however, add one FCS transfer already in Blye Hill, a cornerback from St. Francis in Pennsylvania.
This would give the Huskers more depth upfront for the 2024 season. Derritt played high school ball at St. Thomas Aquinas in suburban Kansas City. Cal, Kansas, Michigan State and Minnesota have all made offers to the popular lineman, who looks to potentially take several visits before making a decision.
