Nebraska will host linebacker Stefon Thompson after Florida State visit concludes.
A familiar face for Nebraska defensive coordinator Tony White will be on campus this weekend as Syracuse linebacker Stefon Thompson confirmed with 247Sports that he’ll head to Lincoln following an ongoing visit with Florida State.
The defender played for White across three seasons at Syracuse. Thompson, who checks in at 6-foot-1, 248 pounds, was a redshirt sophomore this past season at Syracuse.
Thompson has starting experience dating back to the 2020 season.
In 36 collegiate games played (21 starts), he has 169 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 20.0 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles.
He was injured in the first half of the 2022 season opener, missing the final 12 games of the season.
Thompson enrolled in 2020 at Syracuse by way of Charlotte, North Carolina, where he played high school ball at Vance High School.
The linebacker is one of five portal visitors the Huskers are hosting this week, including linebacker Xe’ree Alexander, running back Dante Dowdell, wide receiver Jahmal Banks and wide receiver Isaiah Neyor.
Nebraska has one commitment from the transfer portal at this time in Blye Hill, a defensive back from St. Francis.
Nebraska is in need of linebacker help as Luke Reimer is off to pursue professional football and Nick Henrich concluded his career with the Huskers. The team still has other options like Mikai Gbayor, but Thompson would provide a veteran option.
