Nebraska updated its roster this week as summer conditioning gets underway.
Nebraska sophomore cornerback Ethan Nation is no longer with the Husker football program, as the Nebraska updated its official roster as summer conditioning gets underway. A Nebraska spokesman confirmed that Nation is no longer on the team’s roster. Nation, a former three-star defensive back out of Georgia, appeared in seven games last season as a true freshman growing into a role late in the season as a punt returner.
Nation recorded one tackle and returned seven punts for a total of 23 yards. He had the first punt return of his career for four yards at Michigan State. He added a six-yard return against Maryland. Nation had another six-yard punt return at Wisconsin. Against Iowa, Nation returned three punts for seven yards. Nation was likely poised for a larger role on special teams heading into his sophomore season.
A former Under Armour All-American, Nation chose the Huskers over a host of other offers and was a talented two-way player in Roswell, Georgia. Nation had nearly 100 career tackles and 12 interceptions in his high school career on defense, and tallied 1,000 receiving yards with 16 total touchdowns on offense.
Nation was the lone scholarship player to be removed from the roster this week. Brothers Trevon Kinchen and Javon Kinchen, who joined the program last season as walk-ons are no longer listed, as are Elkhorn South running back Cole Ballard and freshman fullback Landon Ternus.
