Emily was spending her summer in China teaching English to kids when she bumped into professional underwear model Kobe during a night out with friends. Emily thought Kobe was going to be a one-night stand, but things got “really serious, really fast” as she described it on 90 Day Fiancé season 9.
Kobe proposed to Emily in Xi’an before she realized she was pregnant, but after going their separate ways, Kobe’s K-1 visa took two years to get approved. By then, their son Koban was already a year old. Kobe came to the U.S. from Cameroon and began living with Emily’s parents, David and Lisa Bieberly.
The pair welcomed another child after their wedding and flew to Cameroon together in HEA season, so Emily could finally meet Kobe’s family and have their Cameroonian wedding. I watched the wildest twist in their storyline take place when Emily became pregnant a third time.
Kobe knew he had to step up since he had promised Emily’s father that he would move out into a house of his own with Emily if he was going to have a third baby with her. Kobe kept his promise. I’ve been double-tapping all the videos of Emily and Kobe’s new house on Instagram where they live with their kids, Koban, Scarlett, and Atem. When critics mocked Kobe and Emily for still living in her parents’ basement, I believed they were going to prove everyone wrong. Kobe had not wasted time finding a job for himself.
A doting dad and a dutiful husband, Kobe began working at an asphalt company and saved enough money to give his family a comfortable life. Emily also took a loan so they could purchase their dream home. There were concerns about Kobe cheating on his ex-girlfriend when he met Emily, but as I waited for weeks for his ex to show up on camera, she never did, confirming that no drama was going to ruin their easy-going storyline.
One of the most emotional moments from this Tell All for me was when Kobe cried while talking about how grateful he was to have David and Lisa as his in-laws. He’s not a man of many words, but Kobe poured his heart out at the reunion. He couldn’t hold back his tears when he said he lived in the U.S. for over a year without working and never slept hungry thanks to Emily’s parents. There was not a dry eye in the room, and I could feel my eyes welling up as Kobe showed respect for his father-in-law.
Kobe Deserves All The Awards For Standing Up To Bully Angela Deem
Kobe again proved why he’s become my favorite cast member this season when he confronted the franchise bully Angela for her controlling behavior toward her husband. Kobe called out Angela for always disrespecting Michael Ilesanmi in public, “to the level that even a fly cannot respect him.” I observed that Angela didn’t let Kobe speak, the same way she tries to talk over Michael when he tries to make a logical conversation with her. Kobe didn’t stop. He wasn’t going to let himself be disrespected by Angela and ignore something that had been “going on and on.”
Angela told Kobe that she didn’t need his opinion and Michael had tried to support his wife. However, Kobe was just trying to help his friend out. I honestly cannot wait until the Tell All Part 5 where Kobe is going to tell Michael that he doesn’t have to give Angela his visa. Kobe seemed to have sensed what Angela was doing to Michael behind closed doors and was reaching out with a helping hand. I would never have expected Kobe out of all people to face Angela, since he’s never been in a fight with another cast member.
Angela bouncing around in the preview was hard for me to watch.
She forgets that life is not a boxing ring, and adults can solve issues by discussing things. Kobe was not going to ignore how Angela abused Michael, and it remains to be seen how he deals with it in the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? episode. Meanwhile, I can’t help but laugh at the way Angela has been snooping on Michael and Kobe’s chats on TikTok live and recording them to prove as if two friends talking is some crime.
