The fallout from Nebraska’s 28-10 win over Colorado in Week 2 has included criticism of Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders, trolls from Huskers quarterback Dylan Raiola and cornerback Tommi Hill and a head-turning press conference from Shedeur Sanders, among other things. Colorado star player Travis Hunter opted to take the high road during a recent episode of his podcast and praised Nebraska’s team and fans.
«They came out fast,» Hunter said Wednesday, via The Travis Hunter Show. «They hit us in the mouth. We had no response. That’s pretty much what happened. And Nebraska is a good team. They beat us fair and square. We got to come out and do better. We got to play Colorado football, and that wasn’t Colorado football.»
An estimated crowd of more than 85,000 fans showed up to Memorial Stadium for Nebraska’s win over Colorado, the program’s 398th-consecutive sellout. The Huskers have held each of their past six opponents at Memorial Stadium to 14 or fewer points. The 18-point victory marked the program’s largest against Colorado since a 45-17 victory in 2010.
«That environment was top 10,» Hunter said. «That little light show in the fourth quarter, that was cool, too. I ain’t even gonna lie. That was a good little show. Their fans were loud on third down, when you break the huddle, when you get in the huddle. I couldn’t even think to myself out loud. Shout out to Nebraska.»
Hunter finished the game with 10 receptions for 110 yards on offense and three tackles, including one for loss, on defense. He caught four of five targets for 45 yards against Hill. The senior defensive back told media this week that he got in Hunter’s head prior to the game.
«If you go against me, you’re facing a dog,» Hill said. «I don’t care what (Hunter’s) name is. If you face me, you’re going to get the best out of me. I told him that it was going to be a rough game for him. I told him it wasn’t going to be easy for him. He called me trash. I got in his head. By the third quarter, he wasn’t talking to me at all.
Nebraska recorded six sacks for a loss of 41 yards against and limited Colorado to 16 rushing yards, the fewest by a Nebraska opponent since 2020. Shedeur Sanders’s 240 passing yards were the fifth-fewest of his career at Colorado.
«I mean, how many times did (Nebraska quarterback Dylan) Raiola get touched?» Shedeur Sanders asked after the game. «Of course, when you’re able to run the ball consistently, that opens up the pass, you know? But it’s just like, you’ve got to understand what your team’s good at. Why would we keep running the ball when we get out there, and there’s a must-get situation, and we don’t get it?»
