Week six of the college football season was by far the most chaotic we have seen in quite some time, but did it result in mass changes in ESPN’s Football Power Index?
Within the Big Ten, there was shuffling as expected, but no programs saw a major rise or fall in this week’s update. Wisconsin had this week’s biggest rise in the FPI, going up eight spots despite being on a bye, while Purdue had the biggest fall, continuing its plummet into the basement of college football, falling 15 spots from 99 to 114.
The top of the Big Ten rankings saw only a slight shuffle, with the Oregon Ducks and Penn State Nittany Lions flipping spots at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively. USC remains the No. 4 team in the conference despite suffering a loss to Minnesota this weekend, their second of the season. The Ohio State Buckeyes remain the top team in the conference and by a significant margin. They are ranked No. 2 in the FPI nationally, only behind the Texas Longhorns.
