In the NIL landscape, sometimes returning to school for one more season is far more lucrative than the jump to the NFL. Such must be the case for Kansas Jayhawks quarterback Jalon Daniels who will be headed back to Lawrence after «agreeing to a new deal» for a sixth season, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
It was a disappointing finish to the Jayhawks’ 2024 season. After winning four of five down the stretch and punctuated by a home 37-21 win over Colorado football, Kansas lost on the road to Baylor, 45-17. The Jayhawks (5-7) finished one game shy of bowl eligibility despite entering the year with lofty expectations and darkhorse consideration to win the Big 12.
Daniels finished the 2024 season with 2,454 passing yards, 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also added 447 rushing yards and six scores. Over his five seasons playing Kansas football, he has 6,751 passing yards with 45 touchdowns and 24 interceptions, plus 1,047 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns.
In response to the language of Thamel’s tweet, college football fans couldn’t help but troll Daniels for getting the bag.
