Missouri EDGE rusher Williams Nwaneri officially entered the transfer portal on Thursday, ending his time with the Tigers after one season.
Of note about the transfer portal entry, however, is the former five-star EDGE rusher included a «do not contact» designation, which has often suggested that a new transfer destination is already known.
Nebraska is one strong candidate for the former five-star defender because of a number of connections on the roster and the coaching staff. Nwaneri played his high school football in the Kansas City area at Lee’s Summit North High School and was coached by current Nebraska senior analyst Jamar Mozee.
In high school, Nwaneri visited Nebraska with wide receiver Isaiah Mozee, who will enroll at Nebraska in January.
The 6-foot-7, 255-pound Nwaneri was a five-star prospect out of high school, ranked by 247Sports as the No. 6 overall prospect in the country and the No. 2 defensive lineman.
At Missouri this season, Nwaneri redshirted after playing in four games. He made two tackles, and recorded one sack in four games, and was credited by Pro Football Focus with having played 38 snaps as a freshman.
After entering the transfer portal, Nwaneri is ranked as the No. 13 prospect available in the transfer portal by 247Sports.
