LINCOLN – Nebraska football has landed another of its top transfer portal targets.
Former Georgia defensive back Justyn Rhett announced on Saturday that he will be transferring to Nebraska. The safety prospect made his decision following a weekend visit to Lincoln.
Rhett will join the Huskers with three years of eligibility remaining following a two-year career at Georgia. A former three-star recruit who played his high school football for Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, Rhett redshirted during the 2023 season and appeared in two games with the Bulldogs this fall.
Limited opportunities for playing time at Georgia, a member of this season’s College Football Playoff field, led Rhett to enter the transfer portal following the end of the season.
Rhett marks the first roster addition for Nebraska’s newly hired secondary coach, Addison Williams, who will oversee a changed unit in 2025. With two gaps to fill at safety from the graduating DeShon Singleton and Isaac Gifford, Nebraska has now added a 6-foot-1, 200-pound safety prospect in Rhett.
The Huskers have now landed eight players out of the transfer portal this month, with Rhett standing as NU’s first secondary addition.
