Former Husker coach Scott Frost did say at one point Cameron Jurgens could be the next Dave Rimington.
All that potential of the Beatrice native Jurgens has been playing out on NFL Sundays, and the former Husker O-lineman was recognized on Thursday as a Pro Bowler in his first season starting at center for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Having played right guard last season for the Eagles, it’s obviously an exceptional accomplishment for Jurgens. Any time it would be. But especially so soon and with the pressure of having been hand-picked to be the center-in-waiting for Jason Kelce when Jurgens was drafted in the second round at No. 51 overall in 2022.
The Eagles have piled up a 13-3 record, winning the NFC East, and are locked into the No. 2 seed when the NFL playoffs begin next week.
«For him, he keeps it pretty simple,» Eagles right tackle and fellow Pro Bowler Lane Johnson told Yahoo! Sports of Jurgens. I think when you do that, you’re able to focus more and you’re not trying to be a hero, you’re not trying to be Jason Kelce every snap, he’s being Cam Jurgens.»
Jurgens began his Husker career at a tight end, but Frost believed he would be an outstanding center in time.
While he did deal with snap issues at time during his Nebraska career, his next-level ability was still clear.
