Southern Illinois corner Jamir Conn, who was initially committed to James Madison, will instead transfer to Nebraska.
Nebraska added more experience to its secondary out of the transfer portal, picking up a commitment from former Southern Illinois defensive back Jamir Conn, who visited Nebraska over the weekend. He announced the commitment on social media on Sunday evening.
The 6-foot, 180-pound Conn had a strong 2024 season at Southern Illinois, and after entering the transfer portal, initially committed to transfer to James Madison.
Conn, a native of Kansas City, played his high school football Lee’s Summit North High School — the same school where Nebraska analyst Jamar Mozee coached, and several players now on Nebraska’s roster played their high school football. Those relationships, plus interest from Nebraska, helped to get the corner on campus this weekend for an official visit.
As a true freshman in 2023, Conn played 12 games at corner and on special teams, recording 11 tackles on the season, and breaking up three passes. In his sophomore season in 2024, Conn started 11 games and recorded 43 tackles. Pro Football Focus recorded 631 snaps in 2024 for Conn, with a 74.5 overall grade for the season.
Conn will still have a redshirt year and two seasons of eligibility when he gets to Lincoln.
