Nebraska football adds one of the top available players at offensive tackle in former Alabama lineman Elijah Pritchett. Nebraska football needed to add depth at offensive tackle from the transfer portal and has now checked that box. Alabama offensive tackle Elijah Pritchett will sign with Nebraska, giving the Huskers a proven starter at one of their tackle spots for 2025.
The 6-foot-6, 327-pound Pritchett, a former 5-star prospect, started 12 of 13 games for the Crimson Tide this season. He started the season-opener at left tackle after Kadyn Proctor went down with a shoulder injury during pregame warmups, came off the bench in Week 2 against South Florida, then started at right tackle from Week 3 on for the Crimson Tide. Pritchett was credited with 619 offensive snaps in 2024 by Pro Football Focus. Of those snaps, 64 came at left tackle, with 555 coming at right tackle.
The courtship between Pritchett and Nebraska was a quick one. The offensive tackle entered the transfer portal officially on Jan. 4, and was in Lincoln on Tuesday morning for a visit that ended with him committing to the Big Red.
Pritchett struggled at times according to Pro Football Focus, allowing a team-worst 31 pressures and six sacks, while battling legal issues off the field. A change of scenery for the former five-star prospect will benefit the Huskers.
The Huskers have a big need at offensive tackle. Long-time starter at right tackle Bryce Benhart is out of eligibility, and the team’s top two left tackles Teddy Prochazka and Turner Corcoran have battled injuries. Gunnar Gottula, who will be a redshirt sophomore in 2025, played in 11 games with nine starts in 2024 at left tackle.
Pritchett redshirted his first season at Alabama in 2022, then played all 14 games on special teams in 2023, while also rotating in along the offensive line.
A native of Columbus, Georgia, Pritchett was the No. 31 overall prospect in the country in the 2022 recruiting class and the No. 5 offensive tackle according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
