For the second season in a row, Miami has landed a premier transfer quarterback.
On Friday, former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck announced that he is transferring to Miami following five seasons with the Bulldogs. He is considered the No. 1 overall player in the 247Sports Transfer Portal Rankings.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder spent the past two seasons as the starting quarterback for the SEC program, totaling 7426 yards and 52 passing touchdowns to 18 interceptions while amassing a 24-3 record. Two of those losses were one-score games against Alabama.
In both seasons, Beck led the Bulldogs to the SEC championship game. He was injured in the 2024 conference title game against Texas, which Georgia ended up winning.
During the 2023 season, his first as a starter, Beck totaled 3941 yards and 24 touchdowns to six interceptions while completing over 72 percent of passes, earning him second-team All-SEC honors. He finished that season 13-1 with the lone loss coming to the Crimson Tide in the SEC title game. Beck earned a 90.8 passing grade on the season, according to Pro Football Focus.
This fall, Beck threw for 3485 yards with a career-high 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 64.7 percent of his passes. PFF credited Beck with an 80.2 passing grade on the season.
Beck completed 27-of-73 deep shot attempts in 2024 with those completions going for 873 yards and 11 touchdowns along with one interception. Cam Ward completed 34-of-75 deep shot attempts for 1,148 yards with 14 touchdowns and zero interceptions in comparison.
Throughout those two seasons, Beck also added five touchdowns as a runner.

During his time as a starter, Beck went 4-0 against ACC programs (two wins over Georgia Tech, a win over Clemson, and a win over FSU) while also beating Florida twice.
Beck will need to rehab from surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in the elbow of his right arm throughout the early part of the year. The surgery was performed by renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles just before Christmas. He is expected to resume throwing sometime in the late spring. The typical recovery for this surgery—which is different than the Tommy John reconstruction surgery—is five to seven months.
Beck becomes the sixth Top 100 transfer that Miami was able to add this winter, joining Louisiana Tech defensive tackle David Blay, LSU wide receiver CJ Daniels, Michigan State cornerback Charles Brantley, Arizona transfer cornerback Emmanuel Karnley, and Jacksonville State safety Zechariah Poyser.
