Nebraska tight end Thomas Fidone was among the underclassmen to declare for the NFL Draft.
Details were light when Nebraska tight end Thomas Fidone indicated on social media that he wouldn’t return to the Huskers in 2025, and Thursday provided a bit more clarity on Fidone’s plans.
Fidone is one of 70 underclassmen who have declared for the NFL Draft, according to an NFL release.
Fidone, who was the No. 1 tight end in the 2021 recruiting class according to 247Sports, battled multiple knee injuries during his time in Lincoln and put together a pair of productive seasons in 2023 and 2024.
He appeared in 26 games over the last three seasons, making 17 starts. In 2024, Fidone caught 36 passes for 373 yards, which followed the 2023 season where Fidone caught 25 passes for 260 yards and four touchdowns.
The tight end had his best game of the 2024 season in Nebraska’s loss to Indiana, catching six passes for 91 yards. The 91 yards were a career-high for the Council Bluffs, Iowa, native.
Fidone didn’t start, but had a productive Pinstripe Bowl against Boston College, catching five passes for 50 yards in the Husker win.
The 6-foot-6, 255-pound tight end had one season of eligibility remaining and had not entered the NCAA Transfer Portal in January.
