Nebraska football added its 16th player from the transfer portal on Sunday afternoon as Notre Dame offensive guard Rocco Spindler picked Nebraska after visiting Indiana, Pitt, Virginia and fielding interest from Michigan and others.
Spindler, a former four-star recruit with one season of eligibility remaining, was the No. 63 overall prospect available in the transfer portal and the No. 6 interior offensive lineman.
His commitment moved Nebraska up to No. 5 overall in the 247Sports transfer rankings, and No. 1 among Big Ten Conference teams.
This week, Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule said the Huskers were recruiting with their elbows out in a time when programs across the country were spending heavily ahead of the expected start of revenue sharing this summer.
«When things were straight up and we lost someone, we lost someone to a program that we want to be in the same conversation with,» Rhule said.
Nebraska’s 16-player transfer portal class features five of the Top-100 available transfer portal players in the cycle.
