The Nebraska Cornhuskers added depth to their offensive line on Sunday afternoon. The Huskers landed the commitment of Notre Dame Fighting Irish transfer Rocco Spindler.
Spindler started 23 games at right guard for the Fighting Irish over the last two seasons. He lost his starting job at the start of the 2024 season but reclaimed his spot after starter Billy Schrauth suffered an injury.
Data from Pro Football Focus shows that Spindler did not allow a sack during the 2024 season but did allow ten pressures. Spindler will fill a need on the inside of the offensive line. The Huskers are returning right guard Henry Lutovsky and left guard Justin Evans but must replace center Ben Scott.
Spindler will be an option at center, although there could still be more shuffling along the offensive line. This is the second offensive line pickup for Nebraska during the transfer portal period. The Huskers also signed former Alabama Crimson Tide right tackle Elijah Pritchett.
