The latest buzz on Colorado’s star quarterback. Hours after reports of an NFL coach labeling Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders as «arrogant» ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft coming out of the combine, Todd McShay echoed a similar sentiment he has gathered from conversations coming out of Indianapolis. McShay stressed that he was simply relaying information and intel from NFL sources and those with influence on the decision-making processes ahead of the draft.
«Teams in the top 10 drafting In need (of a) quarterback, left the meeting that feeling like Shedeur Sanders was not overly concerned of what they thought of him,» McShay said Tuesday on his podcast. «They had a 15-minute meeting with him and when they were done, they both said in different ways, different words that they did not feel like Shedeur Sanders cared all that much about what that organization thought of him. Fascinating, right?»
Sanders was not disrespectful to the teams that interviewed him, McShay said, according to those he had spoken with in Indianapolis.
«One person I talked said it (just) wasn’t a professional approach,» McShay said. «The other person I talked to said he wasn’t taking it seriously at all.»
According to NFL reporter Josina Anderson, a NFL quarterbacks coach from a team within the top-seven draft picks relayed to others that Sanders came off as «brash» and «arrogant» in his team interviews. Teams inside the top-seven picks include the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets.
Sanders sent a stern warning to teams in Indianapolis, audacious statements that quickly spread. Deion Sanders had no problem with his son’s self-assurance — in fact, it sounded a lot like Prime Time’s mantra before he was the fifth pick overall in the 1989 cycle.
Sanders was a driving force behind the success at both Colorado and Jackson State before his transfer. In 2024, he guided Colorado to its first 9-win season in eight years, revitalizing a program long in need of a turnaround. At Jackson State, Sanders played a pivotal role in ending a 13-year drought, leading the team to back-to-back SWAC Championships and restoring the Tigers’ prominence in the conference.
«We went from Jackson State to Colorado and changed two programs back-to-back,» Sanders said. «So, you don’t think I can come to an NFL franchise and change the program again? It’s history. We done it again. It’s always going to repeat itself.»
