This is not a good look for the former Colorado star quarterback.
Shedeur Sanders got hit with more negative reviews regarding his team interviews at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. Shortly after league insider Josina Anderson reported the former Colorado quarterback came off as «brash» and «arrogant» in his team interviews, NBC Sports’ Matthew Berry revealed that a pair of teams said Sanders was «unprofessional» and «disinterested» during their meetings with him.
«I spoke with two people on two different teams that met with Sanders, and completely independently of each other, they had the exact same things to say,» Berry reported. «They both said it was a bad meeting and that he came off as unprofessional and disinterested.
Both also said that after the meeting they had a lesser opinion of him than prior. These same people both met with Cam Ward as well, and both said they loved Ward, and it was a great meeting.»
Anderson reported that a team holding the rights to a top-seven draft selection was responsible for the «brash» and «arrogant» comments. Teams within the top-seven include the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets. Neither Anderson nor Berry revealed which teams were responsible for the negative chatter around Sanders, but it wasn’t the Browns, according to Berry, who reported the franchise «did like» the former Colorado star.
Sanders and Cam Ward are battling to become the first quarterback selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, and the two shared an intense exchange during a joint workout at UNLV before the NFL combine. Ward, a Heisman Trophy finalist at Miami last season, jabbed Sanders for winning the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award at Colorado by calling it a «completion percentage award.»
«They gave you a completion percentage award because all you threw was checkdowns and bubble screens,» Ward shouted at Sanders, via clip from Well Off Media. «That’s actually crazy. If I did that, my completion percentage would’ve been 90%. I throw the ball, you don’t. Watch and learn, rookie. Can you win from the pocket? I don’t know.»
Sanders led college football with a 74.0% completion percentage last fall, while Ward ranked No. 12 at 67.2%. However, the Miami star averaged a 9.8-yard depth of target, slightly higher than Sanders at 8.0 yards. A few minutes later in the workout, Ward ribbed Sanders for taking a water break before the end of the first drill.
«You went and got water, and we ain’t even done with the first drill,» Ward told Sanders. «That’s how it is at Colorado, though. That’s what it’s like for a nine-win man.»
«I didn’t have water; I drink Gatorade,» Sanders responded, acknowledging that he was the first college football player to sign an NIL deal with Gatorade. «I got paid for it.»
Sanders set an FBS record for career completion percentage with a dazzling 71.8% clip over two years with the Buffaloes, and he contended for the national passing title in 2024 with 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns during a stellar senior year.
