The Husker quarterback and new offensive lineman Rocco Spindler have already connected pretty well it seems.
Rocco Spindler’s dad told his son to look beyond the financial figures while doing his homework in the portal.
And while looking at the coaches, the facility, the culture, you bet your mouthguard an offensive lineman is going to look at the quarterback. A player in Spindler’s position would obviously want to feel like that guy can be money.
So, about that. One thing learned this Tuesday is that Spindler has already gotten to know Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola seemingly quite beyond the passing ‘wassup?’ in the hall.
«The quarterback here is phenomenal,» Spindler said. «Why wouldn’t you want to be part of an offense like that?»
The senior offensive guard, who transferred in from Notre Dame and was playing in a national title game just 52 days ago, has already had some solid conversations with the QB he’ll be trying to bolster.
And it sounds like the quarterback was asking the O-lineman as many questions as anything.
«He’s a great friend but he’s even an even better teammate and competitor. You can see it on the field in how he leads his team and what he wants,» Spindler said. «We’ve sat down a few times and he’s picked my brain of, ‘What was that championship team like? And how’d you guys get there?’ And I picked his brain like, ‘How can we improve here? How can we win? What can I do as an offensive lineman?’ I mean, I’m not flashy but we can lead the pack and lead the team so you get as much time as you need to make the plays.»
