’90 Day Fiancé’ newcomer Joan Kruchov is facing a wave of criticism from viewers for her blunt comments directed at her fiancé Greg Chillak’s mother, Lucille.
This season of ’90 Day Fiancé’ documents Joan’s adjustment to life in America after leaving her native Uganda to be with Greg. However, the reality of living with Greg, who is currently residing with his mother while searching for employment, has proven to be more challenging than Joan initially envisioned.

In Sunday’s episode, titled «Where Did Our Love Go?», Greg attended a job interview for a state position. While he was out, Joan offered to help Lucille sort through a pile of mismatched socks. During this shared activity, their conversation turned to Joan and Greg’s upcoming wedding.
Lucille directly asked Joan if there was anything about living with her that she disliked so far, urging her to be honest. Joan’s initial response was positive, but it took a sharp turn with a complaint that deeply offended Lucille and resonated poorly with viewers.
«I like everything here. You’re a kind person. You’re loving,» Joan began. «Yes, I like everything here, but [I] miss our food, our soul.» She then added, «[But I] need privacy. ‘Cause sometimes you [are] in the house, so… you’re always home most of the [time]. I think you should go [out] more.»
Lucille immediately questioned Joan’s statement, admitting she was offended and considered Joan’s remarks «a little out of line.» It quickly became clear that ’90 Day Fiancé’ viewers shared Lucille’s sentiment, taking to social media to voice their disapproval.
On X (formerly Twitter), critics did not hold back, labeling Joan’s behavior as «disrespectful» and «uppity.» One user complained, «Joan may want to go home… She’s so uppity. Following her controversial remarks, Joan attempted to backtrack, telling Lucille that it was her house and she was «free to stay.» Joan later explained her directness in a solo confessional, stating, «I’m a direct person. I’ll always be grateful for Miss Lucille’s hospitality, but I feel like she’s made it easier for Greg to stay in the house. Greg has this comfortable situation at home, but I want more for us.»
