Former Husker Nash Hutmacher Lands NFL Opportunity with Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Former Nebraska Cornhuskers defensive tackle Nash Hutmacher has secured a spot on an NFL roster, joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. The announcement came on Friday following the team’s rookie minicamps, marking a significant step in Hutmacher’s professional football aspirations.
Hutmacher joins a familiar contingent in Tampa Bay, reuniting with former Husker teammates center Ben Scott and linebacker John Bullock, who also signed with the Buccaneers as undrafted free agents.
Despite battling injuries during his final season in Lincoln, Hutmacher was a consistent presence on the Nebraska defense, starting all 13 games. He recorded 24 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, and one forced fumble, earning honorable-mention All-Big Ten accolades for the second consecutive season.
Prior to signing with the Buccaneers, Hutmacher had participated in a rookie minicamp with the Baltimore Ravens, but ultimately did not receive a contract offer.
His opportunity with Tampa Bay comes after a strong showing at Nebraska’s Pro Day, where he impressed scouts with 26 repetitions on the bench press and a 29.5-inch vertical jump. He also had a noteworthy week of practices at the prestigious East-West Shrine Bowl.
