The Nebraska Cornhuskers have secured another significant commitment for their offensive line, with promising talent Hayden Ainsworth announcing his pledge to the program on Monday. The decision comes just eight days after a pivotal official visit to Lincoln, which prompted the Biloxi, Mississippi native to immediately shut down his recruitment.
Ainsworth’s visit to Nebraska proved to be a game-changer, completely shifting his focus despite previously considering NC State a top contender. «When I got there, it just felt different,» Hayden Ainsworth told 247Sports’ Tom Loy. «The standard they set, the fire they bring, and how comforting they are, it really set it apart.»
His father, David Ainsworth, underscored the thoroughness of the Huskers’ recruitment process, which left no stone unturned for the family. «As a parent, Nebraska left absolutely zero boxes unchecked for us,» David Ainsworth shared with Husker247. «Nebraska has it all. Not to mention Coach Raiola, who having such a pedigree of developing guys for the next level, and obviously the guy at the top Coach Rhule. He’s one of a kind. Total trust in that organization from top to bottom.»
Ainsworth, a 6-foot-5, 305-pound versatile offensive lineman, had previously scheduled visits to Liberty, North Carolina, and Ole Miss later this month, but opted to make his decision early. In March, he reclassified from the class of 2027 to the class of 2026. Ranked No. 73 among interior offensive linemen by 247Sports, Ainsworth is known for his physicality on the field. Rion Young of 247Sports described him as «a real monster on the field… He is able to get back in his kick step and he has good lateral movements.»
Hayden Ainsworth is the sixth commitment for Nebraska in this class, joining fellow offensive lineman Rex Waterman, quarterback Dayton Raiola, linebacker Jase Reynolds, cornerback CJ Bronaugh, and wide receiver Dveyoun Bonwell-Witte.
His father also highlighted Ainsworth’s exceptional character and maturity. «To be in the position he’s in with reclassifying, to having a college football body at 16, to be the man of faith that he is, he’s very unique,» David Ainsworth stated. «Super smart kid. Never had anything but A’s his entire school career. He’s never been given an office referral. He will arrive on campus having just turned 17 but brings with him at a minimum of 35 career starts at tackle in 7A football in Mississippi. They will get an exemplary person when he rolls in to the facility.»
The commitment of Ainsworth further solidifies the Huskers’ efforts to build a formidable offensive line under Coach Donovan Raiola, adding both talent and high character to their promising class.
