Tyray Mollett has the most emotional storyline in 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 6. The 33-year-old is from Modesto, California, and is making his 90 Day Fiancé franchise debut in 2023. Tyray joins the cast with seven other couples, including Gino Palazzolo and Jasmine Pineda and newcomers Amanda Wilhelm and Razvan Ciocoi, who are already making headlines for their controversial relationships. Tyray has also been in the news since his introduction, but for a very different reason.
90 Day Fiancé star Tyray’s girlfriend doesn’t even exist. He spoke about Carmella, a 27-year-old woman who looks like a combination of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. Tyray has been with Carmella for four years after having met the Barbados woman online. He looked forward to flying to Barbados whenever he could find flights that fit his budget. However, the 90 Day Fiancé producers told Tyray that his relationship with Carmella has been nothing but an elaborate prank.
Modesto resident Tyray likes meeting new people, is outgoing, and loves to talk a lot, but something that holds him back is his weight. Tyray’s weight makes him feel insecure, and he says he’s always been a “big guy.” He remembers getting “big” when he was “eight, nine or ten” and his family had moved. Tyray didn’t have a lot of company, so food became a comfort for him, and he calls chocolate his “best friend.” His insecurity from his weight prevented him from having a relationship. Tyray is afraid of rejection and feels ashamed in admitting that he’s a virgin, even at 33 years old.
Tyray lives in a one-bedroom apartment, which is “pretty cramped” since his mom moved in with him. A year before filming, Tyray’s mom found out she had a brain tumor. It was removed, but the next day she had a stroke in the hospital. Tyray was in shock and afraid that he was going to lose his mom. He used to work as a claims rep for a health insurance company, but ended up quitting to take care of her full-time. Tyray’s dad was murdered when Tyray was four years old, after getting into an argument with a friend at a park, and his mom raised him and his siblings on her own.
Money was a problem, and Tyray’s family was even homeless for a few times. Tyray knows his mom had to make a lot of sacrifices for them, so he felt like he owed her, and put what he had on the back burner for her. It’s been a difficult life for Tyray, whose social life is all but gone. However, it was Carmella who brightened up his days, as they chatted “every day about everything” for almost four years since they met on a dating site. But unfortunately, Carmella was not who Tyray thought she was.
Carmella was there for Tyray when his mom fell sick. She gave him confidence, made him happy, and had been emotionally supportive. Tyray had never video-chatted with Carmella, thinking she wasn’t comfortable doing it. “Carmella’s my girlfriend right now but hopefully soon my wife,” Tyray said, who has been looking at rings for her. But Tyray’s world came crashing down when the 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days producers told him that they called a number Tyray provided for Carmella, and the person’s real identity was a man. The person Tyray had been talking to was a catfish, and not the woman in the pictures at all.
