90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star Brandan DeNuccio is the reason why Mary Demasu-ay doesn’t have a career or job in the Philippines. The 23-year-olds met on a dating app over two years ago, and started casually talking on video calls. They decided they didn’t want to spend a single moment away from each other in their long-distance romance. Brandan and Mary had both been cheated on by their exes, which further led them to believe their new partners would also be the unfaithful kind. They are so dependent on each other that they’re on call all the time, even when they sleep or use the bathroom.
Brandan planned to move to the Philippines to stay with Mary and marry her since he didn’t have much to sacrifice back home in Oregon. Mary wouldn’t have allowed him to have a social life in America considering how annoyed she gets when he’s visiting a female dentist or drops by his mom’s house where she has female roommates. It remains to be seen if Brandan will behave the same way when Mary has to leave the house, even if it’s for chores. Mary has been meeting her friends behind Brandan’s back by disconnecting her router to complain about how she lost her college scholarship and job because of him.
To Brandan, it didn’t matter where Mary was from, since Brandan had fallen in love with her character. As per Brandan, Mary was the top student in her class. “She’s the top dancer in a dance team,” he added during his introduction. Mary donates her free time to the church where she teaches kids how to study the bible. However, Brandan forgot to add that Mary had to drop out of her dance group because of him. During a conversation with her friends, Mary revealed Brandan was jealous of one of her friends in college. “He wants me to stop dance so I stopped dancing,” she admitted.
Mary also confessed she “lost” her scholarship because of Brandan. “So that’s why I leave college,” she added. Mary told the cameras that she feels sad because she lost her school and her dance. She also spoke about how she had to stop modeling “because he’s jealous of my pictures.” Mary doesn’t like staying at home doing nothing. She has convinced herself that she had to give up everything she liked in life because if she didn’t, she would “lose Brandan because he can’t stop overthinking.”
Meanwhile, Brandan himself has been without a job and left for the Philippines with just $250 in his bank account. Brandan and Mary decided to build a house in the Philippines. Mary’s house had been destroyed by a typhoon, so whatever paychecks Brandan got from his jobs in the past year were sent to her and used to build their new house, confirming “It was close to like $50k-$60k.” It appears Brandan had many odd jobs in the past such as a delivery driver, deli clerk, and bagging groceries. He was fired from three or four of them because Mary insisted on him being on the phone with her all the time.
This could have been Mary’s way of making Brandan get a taste of his own medicine. But in the end, the money that Brandan was making was going into her bank account. Now that Brandan is in the Philippines, he needs to figure out how to make money to feed himself and Mary’s family in their new house. Considering Mary is now a well-known name in reality TV thanks to 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, she could start her career as an influencer. Mary could perhaps start making a living off brand sponsorships or platforms such as Cameo, as long as her content doesn’t make Brandan insecure.
