The 90 Day Fiancé community is in an uproar following a series of events involving newcomer Birkan. While viewers were already wary of his behavior on screen, a recent off-camera incident has led to a massive wave of criticism and demands for his removal from the franchise.
The Controversy at the Center of the Storm
During a recent live session, Birkan addressed a heated moment from the Tell All segment involving his castmate, Stig. Birkan admitted to using a highly offensive racial slur, though he defended his actions by claiming it was a «term of endearment» between friends.
According to Birkan, Stig—whom he refers to as a «brother»—was not offended and understands his intentions. However, the explanation has done little to calm the audience. Fans were quick to point out that «permission» from one individual does not excuse the use of historically harmful language on a global platform.
A Pattern of «Red Flags»
The recent outcry is the tipping point for many viewers who have already labeled Birkan as «full of red flags.» Since his debut, the fandom has noted several concerning behaviors:
- Controlling Nature: Observers have criticized his apparent need for authority in his relationship with Laura.
- Financial Disclosures: Birkan recently admitted to having a massive debt he reportedly has no intention of paying back, leading some to question his true motives for seeking a relocation.
- Communication Style: His lack of eye contact and difficulty showing affection have left viewers feeling uneasy about his sincerity.
Will the Network Take Action?
The backlash has reached a fever pitch on platforms like Reddit and Instagram, with many comparing the situation to past cast members who were edited out of reunions or fired for similar conduct.
One viral fan comment summed up the general sentiment: «Just because you get an ‘ok’ from one person doesn’t mean you can use that word. There is no such thing as a pass. Just stop.»
As of now, the network hasn’t officially commented on whether Birkan will appear in future segments or if his presence in the reunion will be scaled back.
