Former 90 Day Fiancé star Colt Johnson got into a terrifying accident in December 2022 which left him wheelchair-bound, and his wife Vanessa Guerra has now revealed it happened during filming a trampoline scene.
The 37-year-old Colt made his reality TV debut with 90 Day Fiancé season 6, featuring his now ex-wife from Brazil, Larissa Lima. After an eventful marriage peppered with domestic abuse arrests, Colt dated Brazilian girlfriend Jess Caroline and later dated and eloped with Vanessa.
Vanessa has been by 90 Day Fiancé’s Colt Johnson’s side while he recovers from the devastating mishap, which is apparently the fault of 90 Day Fiancé as per his wife. Vanessa did an impromptu Q&A session with Instagram fans, where someone asked how Colt got injured, and Vanessa replied, “we were filming a scene on trampolines that went terribly wrong.”
The fan may have asked because Vanessa previously told a different follower “I refuse to film anymore” in response to their question about her plans to return to the 90 Day Fiancé franchise in the future. Moreover, Vanessa also wrote Colt is “unlikely” to continue to film 90 Day Fiancé either. Reality TV star Colt is, however, doing well in his recovery process. Vanessa felt it was overwhelming at first, but she’s never seen him so determined to do something for himself before this.
“He’s actually more independent now than before he broke his leg,” Vanessa wrote in one of her fan replies. While Vanessa appears to be in a better mood now, a month ago, she was desperately seeking prayers from 90 Day Fiancé fans. According to Vanessa, on December 2 2022, Colt got a dislocated and broken leg because of the accident. “Tibia/fibula along with torn meniscus. He was hospitalized for 2 weeks,” she’d written in her post. Within those two weeks, 90 Day Fiancé cast member Colt underwent two surgeries, and because of the pain meds and anesthesia he received, Colt’s bladder stopped working. He had another surgery to remove hardware from his leg, could only move using a wheelchair, and was told he could take six to eight months to fully recover.
Colt’s accident had been taxing on him, not just physically but also mentally and emotionally. The couple had to cancel their plans of relocating to Florida. Colt had to put in major efforts to be able to learn to walk again. However, Colt is doing better now, thanks to Vanessa’s help, and the prayers of his supporters as he continues to take physical therapy sessions. The sessions though, leave the 90 Day Fiancé star to deal with a lot of pain. Still, he is healing much faster than his healthcare providers may have expected.
Colt and Vanessa were last seen together as side characters in Colt’s mother Debbie Johnson’s storyline on 90 Day: The Single Life season 3. Colt was very much against Debbie’s move to Canada with her new boyfriend Tony.
While it didn’t look like Colt would return to a new spin-off anytime soon, news of his accident during filming does come as a surprise. It’s very likely that Colt and Vanessa may have been roped in for 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 8. But with everything that has happened, it’s safe to assume 90 Day Fiancé couple Colt and Vanessa left the production midway and might be removed from whatever season they were filming, given the circumstances.
