CANADIENS TRADE DEFENSEMAN JAYDEN STRUBLE TO PREDATORS FOR SECOND-ROUND PICK

MONTREAL — The Montreal Canadiens have completed a blue-line transaction, sending defenseman Jayden Struble to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a 2027 second-round draft pick, both franchises officially announced Friday.

The trade comes on the heels of a matchup between the two clubs on Thursday, a game in which the 25-year-old blueliner did not suit up.

Moving On: Struble’s tenure in Montreal and Contract Details

The Cumberland, Rhode Island native embarks on a new chapter after spending his entire professional career within the Canadiens organization. Selected by Montreal in the second round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Struble developed into a dependable presence on the backend over his tenure with the team.

  • Season Performance: Before the trade, Struble appeared in three games for the Canadiens this season, going scoreless while averaging 12:05 of ice time per game.
  • Career Totals: Across his time in Montreal, Struble skated in 174 games, recording seven goals and 35 points while averaging 14:58 of ice time per contest.
  • Contract Status: Struble had recently locked in his immediate future by signing a two-year contract extension worth $2.825 million ($1.4125 million AAV) with Montreal through the 2026-27 season after successfully avoiding salary arbitration.

With this move, the Canadiens acquire additional draft capital for 2027, while the Predators bolster their defensive depth with a physical, reliable young blueliner looking for expanded minutes in Nashville.
