The top-ranked Nebraska volleyball team delivered a commanding performance Friday night, sweeping No. 16 Penn State 25-6, 25-15, 25-13 at Rec Hall in one of the most dominant displays of the rally scoring era.
Nebraska improved to 13-0 (3-0 Big Ten), while Penn State dropped to 7-6 (1-2 Big Ten). The Huskers hit a season-best .437 and held the Nittany Lions to -.114, marking Nebraska’s second-best defensive showing since 2001.
Penn State’s 34 total points were its fewest in a match since rally scoring began. The six points scored in the first set were its lowest in any non-deciding set since 2001. It was also the first time Penn State was swept at home since September 2022.
Stat Leaders and Team Dominance
- Rebekah Allick led with nine kills on .615 hitting and four blocks.
- Virginia Adriano added eight kills, hitting .545.
- Andi Jackson and Harper Murray each had six kills; Taylor Landfair posted five, and Teraya Sigler contributed three.
- Setter Bergen Reilly recorded 26 assists and eight digs, while Olivia Mauch led all players with 10 digs.
Nebraska outpaced Penn State in every category: 39-16 in kills, 34-20 in digs, and 9.5-5 in blocks.
Coach’s Reaction “I thought we played pretty good,” said Nebraska head coach Dani Busboom Kelly on the Huskers Radio Network. “Not much else to say… We hit for a high percentage. They hit for a low percentage. It was great.”
