Running back Emmett Johnson, who tripped on a crucial fourth-quarter play, added, “It was a tough thing for him to do, but he came in and battled.”
Lateef’s earlier non-conference performances were promising—11-for-12 passing for 254 yards and a touchdown—but those came in low-pressure situations. The Bruins will be a different beast. Raiola’s status remains uncertain, and Nebraska’s offensive identity may hinge on whether Lateef can evolve from emergency fill-in to reliable field general in just one week.
The locker room may believe in him, but belief alone won’t beat UCLA. Nebraska is gambling on potential. The question is whether that bet pays off—or costs them the season.
