Two Nebraska defenders have stunned fans by reversing their decisions to enter the transfer portal, choosing instead to recommit to the Husker program for 2026.
Edge rusher Willis McGahee IV, a Miami native, announced Sunday morning that he is “All N” after previously signaling his intent to transfer. McGahee, who played in all 12 games as a true freshman in 2024, recorded 13 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and tied for the team lead with two forced fumbles.
He redshirted last season to preserve eligibility while playing behind starter Dasan McCullough, but coaches praised his relentless practice energy and discipline.
Joining him in this reversal is defensive lineman Dylan Parrott, who also withdrew his name from the portal. Parrott, an Eldridge, Iowa native, was on the travel roster for every game in 2025 and logged his most significant action in the bowl game against Utah, earning a 68.2 Pro Football Focus grade. He will return as a senior in 2026.
The decision marks a dramatic shift in Nebraska’s defensive outlook, as both players bring depth and experience back to the roster. Assistant coach Phil Simpson emphasized McGahee’s commitment: “He’s taking care of business… next season starts now.”
With two key defenders opting to stay, the Huskers’ defensive line stability suddenly looks far stronger heading into the 2026 campaign.
