Huskers Land Big One: Five-Star Tight End Ahmad Hudson Schedules Official Visit to Lincoln

After a series of scheduling hurdles, Nebraska has officially proven they are a heavyweight contender for the nation’s top tight end. Ahmad Hudson, the five-star phenom and dual-sport standout, has locked in his official visit to Lincoln for June 12-14, signaling a major win for Matt Rhule’s staff.

Persistence Pays Off

The Huskers have been relentless in their pursuit of Hudson since offering him in early 2025. Despite two missed trips to campus earlier this spring, the coaching staff—led by Dana Holgorsen and Marcus Satterfield—refused to back down. Hudson, currently ranked as the No. 1 tight end in the 2027 cycle and the No. 18 prospect overall, is the only tight end Nebraska has booked for an official visit so far, proving the Big Red is «putting all their eggs in one basket» to land the Louisiana star.

The Battle Against LSU

While Nebraska has the momentum of an official visit, the road to a commitment remains uphill. Hudson is a Louisiana native, and the hometown LSU Tigers are currently considered the team to beat. However, Nebraska has a unique «ace in the hole»: four-star QB commit Trae Taylor.

Taylor and Hudson have a pre-existing chemistry from the 7-on-7 circuit, notably winning the «Battle of the Boneyard» together right inside Memorial Stadium last June. The prospect of reuniting this dynamic duo in Lincoln is a central pillar of Nebraska’s pitch.

A Dual-Sport Threat

Nebraska isn’t just selling football. Hudson is also a four-star basketball prospect, and the Huskers’ recent Sweet 16 appearance has significantly bolstered their «dual-sport» appeal. With the basketball program officially offering Hudson as well, the Big Red is positioned as a place where he can truly excel on both the gridiron and the court.

A Loaded Recruiting Weekend

Hudson won’t be alone during his mid-June stay. He headlines a group of nine official visitors—the largest group of the summer—including four-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor and safety Tavares Harrington. With Nebraska’s 2027 class currently sitting at No. 10 nationally, landing a generational talent like Hudson could be the catalyst needed to push the Huskers back into the top five.
