FAYETTEVILLE, AR. — The University of Arkansas has officially parted ways with wide receiver Jalen Brown. A team spokesperson confirmed his dismissal Monday, following an arrest Friday in Farmington on a charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution.
The 21-year-old Miami native, who was attempting a comeback after a season-ending injury in 2025, now faces a legal battle that has brought his time in Fayetteville to an abrupt halt.
Disputed statements and a «House-Sitting» incident
According to the Farmington Police Department, the arrest stems from an investigation into a March 24 incident. Two women were previously arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman who had been house-sitting and dog-sitting at Brown’s residence.
While Brown provided a written statement claiming the victim was trespassing and did not have permission to be in his home, police found evidence to the contrary:
- Digital Receipts: The victim provided screenshots of messages allegedly from Brown, including keys phrases like “door is open” and offers to “pay you for watching my dog.”
- Interference: Officers cited messages sent via Instagram in which Brown reportedly asked the victim to “withdraw the police report.”
Brown was booked into the Washington County Detention Center on April 10 and was released after posting a $560 bond.
A troubled collegiate path
Brown was once a highly touted recruit, but his career has been marred by repeated dismissals:
- LSU: Began his career in Baton Rouge before transferring.
- Florida State: Dismissed in the spring of 2025 following a drug-related arrest for possession of a controlled substance.
- Arkansas: Joined the Razorbacks in May 2025. His playing time was cut short by a horrific leg injury (broken tibia and fibula) during a game against Notre Dame in September 2025.
What’s next?
The Razorbacks have not issued further comment, maintaining a firm stance on his removal from the roster. Brown is scheduled to appear in Farmington court on June 17 at 8:30 a.m. to face the hindering prosecution charge.
