LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska’s future under center just got a massive boost as quarterback commit Trae Taylor officially earned his fifth star in the latest Rivals300 rankings for the 2027 recruiting cycle. Following a dominant offseason where he earned Rivals MVP honors at the prestigious Elite 11 Finals, the blue-chip signal-caller surged from No. 71 all the way up to No. 17 nationally. Taylor, who recently transferred to Nebraska prep powerhouse Millard South for his senior season, put up staggering numbers as a junior at Carmel Catholic (Ill.), throwing for over 3,500 yards and 38 touchdowns against just three interceptions while adding 12 scores on the ground.

As the cornerstone of Matt Rhule’s top-20 recruiting class, Taylor has been an outspoken leader and vocal ambassador for the program since committing over a year ago. Praised by scouts for his whippy release, high-end arm talent, and elite accuracy, the nearly 6-foot-3 passer isn’t shying away from the high expectations in Lincoln. «I want to bring Nebraska back again,» Taylor stated regarding his vision for the Huskers. With his 5-star rating now secured and an early enrollment on the horizon, Nebraska fans have plenty of reasons to be thrilled about the future of their offense.
