If there was one bit of good news to come out of this weekend for Nebraska football, it’s the fact that the Huskers are the heavy favorite to land elite 2024 offensive tackle Grant Brix.
Brix is one of my favorite recruits in the entire 2024 class. He’s 6-foot-5, 285 pounds and he’s a mauler in the run game. He’s ranked fifth among all offensive tackles via the 247 Sports composite rankings and is ranked No. 81 overall.
Oklahoma and Kansas State have been in the mix. Alabama even hosted him for a visit this summer, but Nebraska football has been gaining momentum and has received a flood of expert projections to land Brix from 247 Sports, On3, and Rivals.
Chad Simmons, the lead recruiting expert at On3, was the latest to project Brix to Nebraska football, which tells me this is all over except for the announcement, which with Brix, might not come until Signing Day.
The top-ranked player from Iowa isn’t about hoopla and I have to say, I don’t mind that at all.
Other recruiting news for Nebraska football
The recent development with Brix isn’t the only news for Nebraska on the recruiting trail. As far as the 2024 class is concerned, the Huskers still have a few targets on the board and it starts with the running back position.
Nebraska has been looking to fill the void left by Kewan Lacy and one candidate is Boise State commitment Dylan Riley. He took an unofficial visit this weekend and will come for an official visit later in December.
Another running back the Huskers are looking at is Lamar Radcliffe. He was committed to Utah but got squeezed out due to numbers. He’s ranked No. 520 overall in the 2024 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Radcliffe is 6-foot-2, 225 pounds out of Sacramento, California. He will take an official visit to Lincoln later this month. It seems like Nebraska football would just take one, but if they like both backs, why not take two?
One reason is that the Huskers could be up against the 85-man scholarship limit. They are also looking at wideout Tre Richardson, a JUCO, who is also a dynamic return guy. That’s something Nebraska football desperately needs and Richardson will also visit in December.
