Another team that continues to have a good moment is the Montreal Canadiens, who defended their home against the Tampa Bay Lightning, while Macklin Celebrini ended an eight-game drought without scoring, but could not prevent the San Jose Sharks from losing, against an impressive comeback by the Nashville Predators at home.
Everything ended on California soil with another victory for the defending champions, the Florida Panthers, but the distinction for the most outstanding duel fell to a battle decided in extra minutes between two direct rivals for the playoff spots.
- Sabres held on and won: J.J. Peterka reached 11 goals on the season after scoring to break a tie in the third period and along with contributions from Jiri Kulich and Tage Thompson’s 21st goal, Buffalo found its way back to winning ways after two consecutive losses, beating the Vancouver Canucks 3-2.
- Rangers on a roll: In his 12th game of the season, Matt Rempe scored for the first time and joined Will Cuylle, Arthur Kaliyev, Alexis Lafrenière and Artemi Panarin in completing a five-goal production that helped New York beat the Ottawa Senators 5-0 to reach four straight games of points and get closer to the playoff spots in their conference.
- Canadiens mean business: Thanks to goals from Jake Evans, Alex Newhook and Juraj Slafkovsky, Montreal won at home, the Centre Bell, with a score of 3-2 over the Tampa Bay Lightning, to win for the seventh time in its last 10 games and after Ottawa’s loss, the team tied for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference.
