Nebraska assistant Donovan Raiola went in-home with one of the early top offensive line targets on the board in Deacon Schmitt.
The Windsor (Co.) High offensive lineman is quickly enjoying a lot of offseason attention as Florida, Oklahoma, Wisconsin area among several schools to make it a priority to get to the bedrock community between Denver and Fort Collins.
Schmitt was an early Nebraska offer, landing it in June after a camp performance, and then he followed it up with a visit to Lincoln for the UTEP game to begin the season.
The 6-foot-5, 310-pound recruit is listed as an interior lineman by 247Sports and he’s now up to 18 offers as more and more schools began to see what the Huskers were clued into last summer.
Schmitt told 247Sports earlier this month that he’s going to set up a few official visits and look to make a decision at some point in 2025. No visits have been locked in, but Schmitt knows what will matter and that’s finding a place that can check the most boxes.
«I just have to fall in love with as many aspects as I can,» he told 247Sports. «The atmosphere, the town, the people around me, the coaches, the fan base.»
