Omaha, NE – September 12, 2025 – Top-ranked Nebraska volleyball once again showcased its resilience, overcoming in-state rival No. 18 Creighton in a thrilling five-set match. The Huskers’ victory, a 25-17, 21-25, 25-18, 24-26, 15-9 triumph, extends their undefeated streak to 22-0 in the historic series against the Bluejays dating back to 1994, and improves their season record to a pristine 9-0.
The contest, which has become almost routine in terms of going to five sets between these Nebraska rivals, delivered no shortage of drama. The Cornhuskers were led by Harper Murray with 17 kills, while Virginia Adriano and Andi Jackson each added 13 kills, as Nebraska hit .250 on the night and held Creighton to a .173 hitting percentage.
The match reached its climax when Nebraska, leading two sets to one and ahead 22-20 in the fourth set, watched Creighton mount a 6-2 run to force a decisive fifth set. In the final frame, Creighton took a brief 4-3 lead, but back-to-back kills from Murray, a Creighton attack error, and a kill from Jackson propelled Nebraska to a 7-4 advantage. Though Creighton narrowed the Husker lead to 10-8, Nebraska ultimately sealed the victory by scoring five of the final six points of the match.
Beyond the gripping volleyball action, both teams made history by setting a new national attendance record for a regular-season indoor match. An astounding 17,675 fans packed Omaha’s CHI Center, surpassing the previous record set in 2023 by a match between Marquette and Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
