Nebraska football continues to make waves on the recruiting trail, climbing into the Top-10 nationally for the 2027 class after securing a major commitment on Friday. The Cornhuskers landed four-star wide receiver Jabari Watkins from Thomas County Central High School in Georgia, a move that elevated Nebraska to No. 6 overall in the 2027 recruiting rankings according to 247Sports.
Watkins, standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 180 pounds, chose Nebraska over offers from Florida State, Arkansas, Cal, Missouri, Ole Miss, and UCF. His decision adds to an already impressive group of commits, bringing the total to four for the 2027 class.
Joining Watkins in the class are:
- Tory Pittman III, a dynamic athlete from Omaha Central, ranked No. 33 nationally.
- Trae Taylor, a quarterback from Illinois, ranked No. 65 overall.
- Matt Erickson, a three-star offensive tackle and the No. 34 tackle in the country, who committed following Nebraska’s win over Houston Christian.
Head coach Matt Rhule and his staff have been aggressive in their recruiting efforts, traveling across the country to scout talent for both the 2027 and 2028 classes. On Thursday, Rhule visited Texas to check in on Ahmad Hudson, the top-ranked tight end in the 2027 class.
“Recruits are excited about us in the 2026 class and the 2027 class, and we have to double down and go recruit at a high level,” Rhule said earlier this week.
Nebraska’s recent home game against Michigan also served as a showcase, drawing top prospects to Memorial Stadium to witness the Huskers in action. With momentum building and national attention growing, Nebraska’s recruiting machine shows no signs of slowing down.
