Huskers Pro Day: Emmett Johnson Hits «Magic» 40 Number as Lutovsky Dominates the Bench

LINCOLN, NE – The atmosphere was electric at Nebraska’s Pro Day this Wednesday as 14 draft-eligible Huskers showcased their talents for NFL scouts. While several players improved their stock, two names stole the headlines: running back Emmett Johnson and powerhouse guard Henry Lutovsky.

Johnson’s Speed Redemption

After posting a 4.56-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Emmett Johnson arrived in Lincoln with a mission: to prove he belongs in the 4.4 range. Mission accomplished. The «alpha» back reportedly clocked in at a blistering 4.4s, a crucial mark for a player widely expected to be one of the first running backs off the board in Pittsburgh this April.

«I’m the best running back in this draft,» Johnson stated confidently after the drills. «Whatever team gets me isn’t getting just a running back, but a weapon.» His versatility was on full display as he ran positional drills for New Orleans Saints RB coach Joe Thomas.

Lutovsky Outmuscles the Combine

In the weight room, offensive guard Henry Lutovsky sent a clear message to the league. Lutovsky put up a staggering 34 reps on the bench press, a number that would have been the absolute best among all linemen at the official NFL Combine. Working out in Florida since the bowl game, Lutovsky also highlighted his versatility to play tackle and center, drawing advice from former Husker and current Eagles center Cam Jurgens.

Versatility and Resilience

The day also saw Heinrich Haarberg post «Combine-elite» numbers for a tight end, including a 10’8” broad jump and a 38-inch vertical. Meanwhile, linebacker Javin Wright addressed past health concerns, assuring teams he is «completely fine» and ready for the next level after a surreal experience participating in the Pro Day he once watched as a fan.
