NO MORE VISITS: Three-Star WR Tay Ellis Shuts Down Recruitment, Reaffirms Commitment to Nebraska

LINCOLN, NE. — After a spring filled with cross-country visits and rising speculation, Nebraska has received the firm answer they were looking for. Three-star wide receiver Antayvious “Tay” Ellis took to social media on April 9 to officially shut down his recruitment, declaring he is «locked in» with the Huskers and will no longer be taking visits to other programs.

The announcement comes as a significant win for Head Coach Matt Rhule, especially considering Ellis was recently spotted in Coral Gables for Miami’s “Spring Ball Splash” on April 4. Despite the allure of the Hurricanes and interest from over 36 Division I programs—including Ohio State and Notre Dame—the playmaker is choosing the Big Red.

The Millard South «Super Team»

In a move that further strengthens Nebraska’s in-state grip, Ellis is expected to finish his high school career at Millard South (NE). He won’t be alone; he will be joined by four-star quarterback commit Trae Taylor, the No. 3 ranked QB in the 2027 class.

The duo’s move to the Omaha metro area allows for constant proximity to the Lincoln campus, fostering stronger relationships with the coaching staff and maximizing local NIL opportunities. For the Huskers, having their future QB1 and a primary deep threat playing together in-state is a recruiting masterstroke.

Stability in a Top 10 Hunt

Nebraska’s 2027 class currently sits at No. 13 nationally with seven verbal pledges. By shutting down his recruitment, Ellis ensures the class maintains its foundation while the staff hunts for big-bodied receivers and defensive anchors to round out the group.

«I am officially shutting down my recruitment, and won’t be taking any other visit!» Ellis posted, ending a cycle that saw him courted by the nation’s elite. With Ellis and Taylor leading the charge, the Huskers are poised to make the 2027 cycle the turning point for the program’s long-term roster depth.
