Elite 4-Star Safety Choosing Nebraska is a Huge Win for Matt Rhule’s Future Defense

The «Big Red» recruiting machine just sent a loud message to the rest of the country. On Sunday, elite 2027 safety Corey Hadley officially committed to Nebraska, providing the program with a massive defensive jolt and silencing any whispers that Matt Rhule’s recruiting momentum was slowing down.

Hadley, a standout from Sandy Creek (GA), chose the Huskers despite having official visits already scheduled for Mississippi State and Georgia Tech. His decision comes after four separate visits to Lincoln over the past year—trips that mostly flew under the radar but clearly solidified Nebraska as his top choice. The 4-star prospect is now set to return on June 5 for his official visit, this time as a committed member of the «N» family.

A Versatile Weapon for the Big Ten

While Nebraska projects the 6-foot-1, 180-pound playmaker as a safety, Hadley brings elite versatility to the secondary. He has spent time at cornerback for his 7-on-7 teams and has even flashed explosive ability at wide receiver. This multi-talented profile is exactly what defensive backs coach Addison Williams was looking for to bolster a future defense that is starting to look «foreboding» for Big Ten opponents.

The 2027 Class is Exploding

With Hadley’s pledge, Nebraska now boasts eight commitments for the 2027 cycle. The Huskers currently hold the No. 14 class nationally and the No. 4 spot in the Big Ten, according to Rivals. Rhule’s staff is making the secondary a clear priority, with Hadley joining fellow safety Tory Pittman III in what is shaping up to be a lockdown defensive backfield. With 26 official visits already scheduled for June, the Huskers are just getting started.
