Nebraska now has four Top-100 commits in 2027 class

LINCOLN, Neb. — For the first time in more than two decades, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are assembling a recruiting class loaded with elite, blue-chip talent that has the entire college football world taking notice. Following a massive recruiting victory on Monday evening, head coach Matt Rhule and his staff have officially secured their fourth Top-100 overall prospect for the 2027 cycle, a milestone the program hasn’t reached in over twenty years.

The historic moment came when four-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor announced his commitment to Nebraska, choosing the Huskers over heavy regional favorite Penn State, Colorado, and Alabama. Taylor, a dynamic playmaker out of Pine-Richland High School in Pennsylvania, is ranked as the nation’s No. 90 overall prospect and No. 17 wide receiver, pushing Nebraska’s 2027 class up to No. 18 nationally in the team rankings.

Breaking a 21-Year Drought: The Power of Four

The last time Nebraska signed a class with this many Top-100 recruits was all the way back in the famous 2005 cycle. That legendary haul featured iconic names like five-star running back Marlon Lucky, linebacker Phillip Dillard, and future NFL superstar defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh.

Now, Matt Rhule is replicating that elite blueprint. Khalil Taylor joins three other premier Top-100 pillars already locked into Nebraska’s 2027 class:

  • Trae Taylor: The phenomenal four-star quarterback out of Millard South, ranked as the nation’s No. 2 passer and the reigning Elite 11 Finals MVP.
  • Tory Pittman: The homegrown four-star safety from Millard North, sitting comfortably as the No. 2 safety in the entire country.
  • Jordan Agbanoma: The powerhouse four-star interior offensive lineman from Loganville, Georgia, ranked as a top-10 player in the talent-rich Peach State.

The Matt Rhule Culture and a Five-Star Recruiter

Stealing a coveted blue-chip recruit straight out of Pennsylvania from under Penn State’s nose is the ultimate proof that Nebraska’s coaching staff is executing at an elite level. For Khalil Taylor, the decision came down to genuine relationships.

«Just the people,» Taylor said. «Going around there, it’s love and genuine. Coach Rhule is a great coach and even cooler person outside of football. He checks in on me and he really likes me.»

While Rhule anchors the staff, quarterback commit Trae Taylor has been the ultimate weapon on the recruiting trail. Having committed over a year ago, the elite signal-caller even moved from Illinois to Nebraska for his senior season to fully immerse himself in the community and help build this juggernaut class.

«I want to bring Nebraska back again,» Trae Taylor stated boldly. «Everybody knows about it from the 90s, let’s make it relevant in the 2020s. It’s the culture—it’s a blue-chip school.»

With four Top-100 stars and an additional wave of four-star commits—including Georgia standouts Corey Hadley and Timi Aliu, Florida cornerback Bryce Williams, and California defensive back Jailen Hill—the Huskers are building a deeply talented, national roster designed to bring championship football back to Lincoln.
