The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team delivered another ruthless performance Friday night, sweeping No. 25 Penn State 25-14, 25-11, 25-14 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. In front of 8,537 fans dressed in black, the Huskers celebrated their third consecutive Big Ten Championship while moving one step closer to an unbeaten regular season.
The victory marked the first time Nebraska has swept Penn State twice in the same season, and the dominance was absolute: in six sets played against the Nittany Lions this year, Penn State never scored more than 15 points. Nebraska now stands at 29-0 overall and 19-0 in the Big Ten, with only Ohio State remaining before potentially completing a perfect regular season for the third time in program history (previously achieved in 1994 and 2000).
Harper Murray led the charge with 11 kills, seven digs, and four blocks, hitting .476. Rebekah Allick added nine kills and hit an astonishing .750 with four blocks. Andi Jackson contributed six kills and four blocks, while Virginia Adriano and Taylor Landfair chipped in with five kills each. Setter Bergen Reilly orchestrated the offense with 29 assists, 12 digs, and two aces.
Statistically, Nebraska overwhelmed Penn State in every category: hitting percentage (.385 to .011), kills (39-23), blocks (9-2), digs (41-23), and aces (7-0). The Huskers sided out on 87.8 percent of rallies, leaving the Nittany Lions with no answers.
The sweep not only underscored Nebraska’s dominance but also intensified the narrative of humiliation for Penn State, a program once considered a perennial powerhouse. The Huskers now turn their focus to Saturday night’s clash with Ohio State, where they will honor seniors Rebekah Allick, Maisie Boesiger, Taylor Landfair, and Allie Sczech.
